Ah, Martini. We've been expecting you. Here’s the foolproof Big Grin method. You’ll want your glasses cold, so put them in the fridge/freezer beforehand. Notice that unlike Mr Bond, we’re using gin not vodka. So it’s stirred not shaken; shaking can “bruise” the gin, turning the drink cloudy.
2 to 3 parts gin
1 part dry Vermouth (make sure it’s dry)
1 olive or a tuile of lemon
How to make it
Start by filling your mixing glass with fresh ice cubes (fresh because you don’t want them melting and adding too much water).
Add the gin and dry Vermouth, and stir gently until the outside of your mixing glass is cold to the touch.
Strain the mix into your chilled glasses, you don’t want the ice in your drink.
Add an olive, and imagine you are in your white dinner jacket rather than a Christmas jumper.
